Working Bees
Working Bees before the General
Meetings will be continued during 2011 (except for March).
Drop in if you
can spare the time - just an hour or two would be so helpful.
We really need help in maintaining the Complex! The jobs are just not getting
done in the time available with just a dedicated few doing them.
Some of the tasks include cleaning, vacuuming, dusting, sweeping,
administration type jobs, or just pulling a few weeds up, wherever
your interest lies. Quite a few members are now unable to help with
these jobs for various reasons -
Any help
will be greatly appreciated.
Social Outing
18 members enjoyed our trip to Wollombi on Wednesday, April13th.
Big thanks go to Margaret Pearce for arranging this outing. It’s
a lot of work for Margaret and it’s very much appreciated. Our
trip took us via Somersby and Kulnura to Wollombi; a lovely
drive.
In Wollombi a local guide joined us and we visited the
attractive little sandstone Anglican Church and then for a short
walk to a row of interesting old buildings, including what had
been the telegraph station; the small Catholic church with its
interesting history; and then the museum in what used to be the
Wollombi Courthouse. This was of great interest to us because
many of the items were similar to those held in our museum but
also because of the other fascinating artefacts in their
collection. This was a most enjoyable day and our thanks again
to Margaret.
Mowing
You may have noticed how good our grounds
are looking at present. Gosford City Council has kindly agreed to
help us out by mowing all of our grounds whenever they can and they
started doing this late March. This is really appreciated as we have
had problems in keeping them mowed in the past.
New Signs
We have 2 new signs – one stating "Dogs allowed
outdoors on a leash only – Do the right thing" This is on the
grassed area on the left as you drive up to the car park. The other
sign has been erected at the front of the museum, directing visitors
to "Please pay first at window …". Apparently some visitors have
headed to either the cottage or the slab shed without first going to
the office to pay.
Trading Table
Trish Scott advises that the traymobile that she cleaned and
polished will be used as a Trading Table each month at our
General Meetings, and for Coach Tours. Members may bring and buy
suitable items such as handicrafts, knickknacks, unwanted gifts,
jams (the jams must have ingredients listed on the jar), fruit
when in season, but no cooked goods.
